Why Did You Summon Me? - Chapter 52

Why Did You Summon Me? - Chapter 52

All in all, if we were to compare the current situation with a computer game strategy, then Baiyi believed that he was definitely the law-abiding, honest player but as for the 30th Walker that he was about to awaken, she would most likely be the evil, cruel heartless player who would slaughter everybody at first sight! But even so, Baiyi decided to wake her up first and to deal with the consequences later.

Anyway, she had been sleeping for quite some time now.

Who knew, perhaps her sense of self had already been lost in the huge Void.

Splitting a part of his consciousness away from his body, Baiyi poke the Fairy roughly.

“HEY! HEY! WAKE UP!” After a while, a chime-like melodious female voice could be heard saying, “A-Ah no… N-Not there… Urghh… Gasp … D-Don’t be so rough…” WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? A short while after, the Fairy finally seemed to have woken up from God-knows-what dream that she was having just a moment ago.

She first greeted everyone with an innocent and cute demeanour but the moment she set her eyes on the Lich, two snorts could be heard in the Void.

Instantly, the warm atmosphere cooled down.

“Hrmph! No wonder I smelt a stinky and disgusting scent the moment I woke up! It’s you after all! I can’t believe that you haven’t been banished from this place! Oh, I feel so sorry for you…” The Fairy provoked.

The Lich would never let her get her way with it so he retorted, “Oh, look at what we have here? A Fairy who was born to cause catastrophe! Awww, what a terrible life you lead! It’s even worse than a rotten corpse! Even the endless Void is too good for you!” What exactly happened between the two of them you asked? Well, to put it simply, the story began like this.

One day, while the Fairy was wandering around looking for some new toys for herself, she accidentally broke into the Lich’s secret lair.

When she saw the skeletal dragon that the Lich had just polished a day before, she used her arrow to strike the dragon down and it smashed on to the floor in a broken heap of bones.

All if that was done for the sake of having fun.

Naturally, when the Lich found out, they began to engage in battle and fought… If it was purely just combat power, the Fairy was certainly no match for the Lich.

After just two or three rounds of combat, the Fairy was forced to flee and unsatisfied, the Lich chased after her to kill her off.

It was exactly at that moment that there was a group of powerful and influential human beings nearby who was on an expedition to kill the Lich.

Because of that, several of those humans came to the Fairy’s rescue when they came across the scene and managed to turn the situation around and beat the hell out of him.

The last blow that the Lich received was none other than the arrow that was shot by the Fairy, it ended his evil life and exiled the remnant of his soul to the Void.

Well, if the story had ended there, then yes, it was a happy ending.

But things were not as simple as it seemed.

In accordance to the original plan of the human, they were actually still in the process of gathering more people to join them and preparing more weapons and equipments.

They wanted to make sure that they would not suffer much loss in the process of killing the Lich.

However, the sudden interruption of the Fairy had disrupted their plan and gave away their hidden spot.

Because of that, the Lich knew that he was being targeted and so he decided to flee after settling his business with the Fairy.

As the group of the human knew that it would be hard to locate him again if he succeeded in fleeing, they had no choice but to make a last minute change to their plan and enter an earth-shattering battle with the Lich even though they were not completely ready.

Due to that reason, many powerful humans lost their lives in the process of battling the Lich.

Some of those people were important spies or even undercover sentinel for the underground world and abyss.

Their deaths caused a series of changes in those dangerous areas.

One could easily imagine how big the impact and loss that one small action had caused… That was the most disastrous tragedy that the Fairy had ever caused in her life.

Even that one incident where the kings of two countries decided to declare war on each other because of her was a trivial matter compared to this incident.

But in all fairness, there was nothing wrong with the conduct of the Fairy herself.

One could say that she actually meant no harm nor was there malicious intent in her actions.

Perhaps it was just her fate— or, ‘curse’—that she had to carry.

Just a mere action of buying an apple in the street could also cause a fiasco among the people.

That was why she decided to give up frequenting the human society and went travelling to other planes instead.

Who would have ever thought that she would run into the Lich instead… When she first entered the Void and decided to exchange her memory with Baiyi, she once told him, “I’m nothing but a mere trouble-maker.

Are you sure you really want to exchange your memory with me? Hmm? Are you still willing to do it? Well, alright! I’ll exchange it with you! But, after going through my memory, I’ll no longer have any secrets in front of you.

Will you be responsible for me?” Continue reading on MYB0XN0 V E L.

COM At that time, Baiyi had already exchanged his memory with the previous 28 Walkers so he was rich in both knowledge and experience.

Being quite confident in his own strength, although the words of the Fairy sounded eerily like a confession, he did not mull over it too much and in a serious manner, he promised, “There is absolutely nothing that the Fifth Walker cannot bear.

I will be responsible for you!” “GREAT! It’s a deal then! Let us share this fate together!” Halfway through her memory, he already regretted his decision.

I’m just a mere Voidwalker, how can I possibly be responsible for you? Only God can handle you okay?! But then, after he had finished reliving the second half of the Fairy’s life, his regret gradually faded away and he began to sympathize with her instead.

The girl who caused catastrophe did not change at all from the start until the very end.

She was still the beautiful, pure, kind and innocent girl who had just left the Fairy Village.

All those time, the smile on her face never wavered nor faded when she faced her disastrous fate.

No matter what happened, she always held on to the belief that tomorrow would be a better day.

No matter where she went or what she did, her action would cause a disaster, invoking abuses and hostility from the people around her.

But everytime, she would be able to turn the situation around and emerged safely out of the situation.

Most crucially, she had to face all of those situation by herself.

Coupled with the long lifespan of a fairy… What a cruel joke that the Creator played on her… So, that moment after Baiyi had finished going through her memory, he did not know what kind of expression he should use to face her.

Instead, the Fairy who had long finished reliving his memory took the initiative and said, “Wahhh, I’m so envious of your world! It’s so peaceful and tranquil! There are so many colorful things and different cultures over there! Everything seems so interesting! Darling, you must bring me there to explore your world when there’s an opportunity.

I know how to take care of myself and cook as well! Your mum will definitely love me…” Err… What? Wait a minute? Do you even know what are you talking about? Why did you even mention my mum? And what’s with that term of endearment? “Of course I do! Didn’t you tell me that you’re going to be responsible for me? Are you trying to go against your own words now? Ahhhh… Don’t tell me you’re a jerk?!” WHAT? This is not about me going against my own word! But how did the situation escalate into this, Lady Fairy? Erm… Don’t you think we need to get to know each other first before getting into a relationship? “But we’ve just finished watching each other’s lives! Isn’t it enough? And darling, why are you still calling me Lady Fairy? Shouldn’t you call me ‘baby’ or ‘wifey’ instead?” How can I possibly use that term of endearment so lightly? I’m actually a very conservative person okay?! “Eh? But you’ve obviously called a lot of people ‘wifey’ before! Like that white-haired girl character in Kancolle 1 ? Or that blue-haired girl of the twin maids? Or even that French village girl who was wearing a black armor? Well, it’s obvious you like cute and beautiful girls and I’m much more beautiful than them so why can’t you call me your wifey?” Er… W-Wifey… Y-You have a point right there… Eh? Wait a minute! This is not right! How can you compare a real person to a 2D characters? “But darling, we are now nothing but just a blob of consciousness floating in the Void.

We’re even worse than a 2D character!” … Well, in short, that was the brief introduction of the Fairy Walker.

For the first time ever, Baiyi felt that he had finally met a person he had no idea how to handle.

She was no doubt a dangerous person but he could not help but feel sorry for her at the same time.

There was a part of him that sympathize with her and wanted to help her bear the cruel destiny that was given to her.

The beautiful Fairy whose real name was Feng had nothing but a contradicting existence.

Even the first thing that she did when she just woke up was picking a fight with the Lich which created troubles for Baiyi.

“You’re just a weak little fairy! Without your bow, you’re no difference from an ordinary mortal! How dare you be so presumptuous in front of me!” The Lich hissed angrily.

“So what if I don’t have my bow with me? I have my darling right here, remember?” The Fairy retorted without showing any sign of fear.

Alright! If it involved Baiyi, the person who had the power of speech in his arsenal, there was nothing that the Lich, who was very tough and would not shy away from any difficulty, could do.

In the end, he just mumbled “Alright fine! You win!” before going off to sulked at the corner.

As for the Fairy, she immediately whispered to Baiyi proudly, “Did you see his face darling? That old boney face was no match for mine!” Err… Do tell me how should I even look at the face in this dark endless Void? “Teehee! I was just pulling your legs.

So, what’s the matter darling? Why did you wake me up? Ooooh… have you decided which name to give to our baby? Could it be Fengbai? Or Fengyi?” The Fairy continued to ask.

I’m sorry but the kid will have to follow my surname.

I’ll never back down when it comes to this… E-Er… Wait a minute! I will not get into this ridiculous topic! We’re not even in a relationship! Sigh… Anyway, some changes have taken place during your sleep.

Have a look at it, Baiyi announced seriously as he showed his memory after he was summoned to her.

While looking at Baiyi’s memory, the Fairy could not help but expressed her views time to time, “Eh? You actually found an escape method now? As expected as my darling… Oh! This girl is so cute… Hmmmm… Sniff.

.

 .

” As she was watching, her voice began to die down.

After a while, like a discarded wife and with a tearful voice, she lamented , “D-Darling, sniff, in such a short period of time, there are already t-t-three beautiful girls by your side? And the reason you woke me up is t-to actually help you to choose jewelries for one of them? Boo hoo hooo.

.

 .

You are a jerk! And here I was actually dreaming of you in my sleep… Sniff! ” Do you understand now? The real reason why Baiyi did not want to wake her up in the first place? Just because of that one promise that he accidentally made out of his pity towards her, he suddenly had a ‘wifey’ in his life.

It was indeed a difficult situation for him!
